Longevity and craftwork
The work in Pretium Winery is marked by two key points: the longevity of their vineries and the craftsmanship in producing their wines.
An exceptional wine is always part of a great vinery. Having this in mind, Pretium elaborates its wines from unique vineyards: those planted by our great grandparents, and that are about a hundred years old. Located in Villaseca and Fonzaleche, each grapevine is different and provides its unique hints to an outstanding, one-off wine. In addition, its huge biodiversity, that comes of the work and commitment of Alfredo Valgañón and María Luz García for decades, the vineyard has resisted over the years with no invasive chemical treatments.
Behind the delight of enjoying a glass of wine is "my passion, my care and my endless visits to the vineries for a day to day follow up of each raceme, each grape…", acknowledges Berta Valgañón. Once she identifies the optimal ripeness stage, grapes are harvested in boxes and, with a van, are sent to the winery where the process continues.
The traditional craftwork fully respects the raw material and with the least possible human intervention. Pretium wines are always aged in the most suitable, appropriate and natural conditions of humidity and temperature, both in winter and summer.
Just like the vineyard, this winery is sustainable, there is no need to consume electricity to maintain the wines in good humidity and temperature conditions.
